From a recent telephone conversation
with you, we understand that the new salaries
recommended for Hong Kong are about to be approved
and that you expect to be in a position to write us
a general letter regarding the matter shortly. In
the meantime, however, the following vacancies are
outstanding and you might be able to give us authority
to pay the higher salaries.
M/Hong Kong. 2255. Assistant Engineer, P.W.D.
C.0.letter No.72839/30 of 12.5.30.
M/Hong Kong. 2056. Inspection Officer, Fire Brigade
C.0.letter No.72782/30 of 12.5.30
Probably the new salaries will upset the standard
Hong Kong agreement (specimens of each are enclosed) and
new agreements will have to be prepared. If the new
salaries affect Police appointments, also probably the
standard Police agreement, but this can be gone into latar
